Agriculture is the mainstay of Bangladesh’s economy. Apart from agriculture being the main livelihood, Bangladesh is also one of the hazard-prone countries in the world. Due to various hazards, agricultural production is disrupted every year, leading to changes in traditional farming practices. This changing pattern and application of indigenous knowledge are more noticeable in the Teesta River basin study area. To collect necessary data, the researchers have applied qualitative approaches with responses gathered from local participants for this paper. A semi-structured questionnaire survey has conducted to capture qualitative data. The study aims to find out the utilization of indigenous knowledge in changing agricultural practices within the study area and assess its impacts on the farmers’ community. Farmers often apply indigenous knowledge in its traditional form; however, they integrate modern knowledge and technology alongside traditional practices at various stages of farming. This hybrid approach helps mitigate the effects of hazards and adapt to the changing agricultural practices. |
