A field experiment was conducted at Agronomy Field Laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Agricultural Extension, University of Rajshahi, Rajshahi, during the period from 2nd December, 2018 to 21th March, 2019 to find out the effect of Xanthium strumarium aqueous leaf extract on growth, yield components and yield of lentil. The experiment consists of two lentil varieties i.e. (V1 = BARI mashur-3 and V2= BARI mashur-6) and three Xanthium leaf extract treatments i.e. T0= no treatment or spraying with only distilled water (control), T1= 50% of Xanthium leaf extract spray solution and T2= 100% of Xanthium leaf extract spray solution. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. 100g fresh leaf of Xanthium was blended with 100 ml of distilled water to prepare 100% spray solution. The research result revealed that BARI masur-6 (V2) produced maximum plant height (53.08 cm), branch number (16.12), pod plant-1 (70.29), 1000-grain weight (20.29g), grain yield (1.71 t ha-1), stover yield (6.72 t ha-1), biological yield (8.45 t ha-1). All the yield components and yield significantly reduced by Xanthium leaf extract application and the maximum plant height (53.69 cm) branch number (16.18), pod plant-1 (71.14), 1000 grain weight (20.55g), grain yield (1.76 t ha-1), stover yield (6.96 t ha-1), biological yield (8.72 t ha-1) were observed in T0 where no Xanthium leaf extract was applied. Meanwhile maximum growth restriction and yield lost was observed with spraying Xanthium leaf extract at high concentration (T2). The maximum values for branch number (19.69), pod plant-1 (74.44), 1000 grain weight (21.27g), grain yield (1.86 t ha-1), stover yield (7.53 t ha-1) and biological yield (9.39 t ha-1) were obtained in treatment combination of V2T0 and the minimum corresponding values were obtained in combination of V1T2. In this study it was observed that growth, yield components and yield of both the lentil varieties decreased significantly by increasing the concentration of Xanthium strumarium leaf extract and BARI mashur-6 perform better than BARI mashur-3 subjected to spraying Xanthium leaf extract.
